Sub: Camp Information
With the exception of a few details, the following information is now available relating to the PSAC Men’s In-Service and Applicant Camp July 16 through 18 at Indiana University. In the event you have any questions, please contact me by email (preferred) or by cell phone at 717-805-1316.
- Officials may check into the housing unit on Friday morning July 16 beginning at 7:30 AM until 9:00 AM. Officials should report to the Towers Dormitory. This is a non-air conditioned unit but fans are permitted. Officials must bring their own bedding and toiletries. Snacks and beverages are permitted but no alcohol. (There is no Thursday evening check in.)
- The first session will be an orientation meeting beginning at 9:15 AM in Pierce Hall. Dress for the first meeting will be casual and officials should bring note-taking material.
- Camp will conclude Sunday at approximately 1:00 PM.
It is very important that officials are in shape and prepare to officiate. We will use collegiate mechanics but high school rules. In addition to games officials will also be involved is Special Situations and intense tape breakdown sessions. Actual PSAC game tape will be analyzed and reviewed. Officials will be evaluated and a camp clinician will cover each court.
I look forward to seeing you at camp.

Professionalism:
• Officials are to be punctual for all assignments. Weather can delay arrivals, so please plan accordingly. If you are having difficulty with traffic or bad weather, do not wait until the last minute to phone the university, the university police, or myself. Each official should have in their possession a copy of the phone numbers for the university police. Please contact the university and the police can get a message to the game manager. Don’t
call me and say that you forgot the number. Print the numbers and place in your
bag or game folders.
• Upon arrival, let the game manager know that you have arrived and go
directly to the dressing area to prepare for the game.
• Officials are permitted to wear PSAC wind suits. Absent a wind suit, officials are to wear “Casual Dress” attire.
• At all times you are to be professional with your responses and actions
towards coaches, fans, players and administrators. Just because someone is not
professional to you, you still have the responsibility of demonstrating your
professionalism. If it becomes necessary to eject anyone, it must be done in
a professional manner. To that end, coaches are to be addressed as COACH and
NEVER by their first name.
• If you curse at a coach, player or fan, you will be disciplined… suspended
or schedule terminated. |
